THE ZOMBIE RUN

Now on its seventh year, the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Zombie Run is a fun 3K race around Singapore American School. Its main purpose is to raise funds to support our SAS GK Village in Dalaguete, Cebu. The Zombie Run is our main fundraiser for the year, annually bringing in around $15,000 in profit, one of the biggest service events an SAS club holds.

 

Runners will be plagued by “zombies” located in “zombie zones” that will try and steal their lives (recycled material, much like flag football). Within their 3 km route, there will be clearly marked “zombie zones”, where the “zombies” may chase them, and “safe zones”, where no zombies are located. The objective is to finish the race with the fastest time and at least one flag, or “life" attached. This means that you survived the zombie apocalypse!

WHERE OUR FUNDS GO.

In 2018, the Gawad Kalinga club raised funds to reach our goal seven years in the making: building our own SAS GK Village. In November of 2019, we broke 
ground on our SAS GK Village in Dalaguete,
Cebu, Philippines. Now, every SAS GK club trip (Thanksgiving and Interim) will go to Dalaguete to support our village and work on the connections we have with them!

Building this community is the first phase of our ultimate goal. We strive to expand this community by implementing GK's education and social entrepreneurship programs to ensure sustainable livelihood for the villagers.
